April 13, 2013 13:00 pm, " public art in beautiful countryside" sub-forum was held in the VIP building of Shanghai Gu Cun park Hotel. Professor Zhang Xiaoling, Vice President of China National Academy of Art chaired the forum. Professor Hoshina Toyomi, the Dean of Arts Faculty of Tokyo University in Japan, made a presentation entitled " ‘art project ‘ promoting countryside reconstruction movement". He introduced the situation of public art in Japan and some recent ongoing public art activities in Tokyo University of the Arts.
Professor Hoshina Toyomi describes some of public art works in Japan, including Art Line and some art works born out of Japanese folk art. Professor Hoshinasaid: "Today, the relationship between contemporary art and social daily life in Japan become increasingly close, especially after the earthquake at East Japan in March 2011. 'Community design' which focused on natural environment and human beings has become a new theme of public art. More and more planning promotes the power of art as an important part of 'reconstruction movement', 'local promotion'. Compared to the center of Tokyo contemporary art, these kinds of ‘Art projects’ are increasingly showing the possibility to expand the local. "
