April 13, 2013 13:00 pm, " public art in beautiful countryside" sub-forum was held in the VIP building of Shanghai Gu Cun Park Hotel. Professor Zhang Xiaoling, Vice President of China National Academy of Art chaired the forum. Mr. Shi Mingqiang, party secretary of Longxi Town in Yuhuan County, made a presentation entitled "Public Art make countryside beautiful".
Mr. Shi Mingqiang said: "Since we do the joint research with the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai University, we agreed that the key of rural development is to reshape cultural ecology in the countryside which will encourage urban residents to seek spiritual home in the countryside and help farmers to activate cultural awareness and the build up confidence for the future development. This will provide endogenous power into countryside and help farmers to get rich through the birth of the cultural significance economic development. So the construction of beautiful countryside itself is a public art project. We combined the public art with local culture, modern agriculture, life experience, extracurricular education, folk, ecology, community organizations, and other local festival together to promote the model of village place making. "
Mr. Shi Mingqiang also mentioned public art played a positive role in the development of beautiful countryside project, including the reconstruction of rural culture, cultural welfare, solving public problems, awakening cultural consciousness, forming creative landscape, improving the aesthetic consciousness, changing values, rural and urban exchanges, looking for cultural identity and so on. |
