April 13, 2013 13:00 pm, "Metro Public Art" sub-forum was held at 2nd floor of Triumph Palace Hall C of Gu Cun Park Hotel. Professor Cao Yijiang, Convener of the Artistic Disciplines Consultative of the State Council, Dean of College of Arts and Humanities of China Academy of Art, hosted the forum.
Associate professor Lily Zhang from College of Fine Arts, Shanghai University, introduced "Shanghai Metro Public Art Master Plan."
“This Plan has three phases: the first is to establish a large public art galleries in three lines transfer station. The second is to establish several medium-sized public art galleries in some special stations. Third is to build small public art galleries over the every Shanghai subway station. There are four kinds of modular display units to choose to adopt the space in the subway. These public art galleries will cooperate with important art exhibitions and cultural festivals in Shanghai to forming themes, contents and other seven relative aspects. It will become a display window for artists, art schools, and art institutions.”
“In addition, we also need a stable organizational structure and operating system for Metro public art. First is to establish the Shanghai Metro Public Art Commission. Secondly, curators will become the core of the project operation mechanism. Third is to establish funding model. Finally is to ensure a standard operating through certain process. |
