April 13, 2013 13:00 pm, " Post-Expo public art park " thematic forum was held at 2nd floor of Triumph Palace Hall of Gu Cun Park Hotel. The forum was chaired by professor Rong Nianzeng who is the Director of Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture Center. Ami Barack, a French independent Curator made a speech entitled “What is public art? What is the future?”
Ami Barack said: "Public art become more and more popular, and more important than ever. It will also be getting better and better. Anyone who become a member of public art committees or try to start an environment-changing program should answers following questions: Is Public artwork a sculpture or a facility? Is public art used in an existing community which has certain atmosphere or a new one? Is public art temporary or permanent? If it’s temporary, what will be the next? How does community involve in? How does the artist involve? We have to consider these questions carefully and can’t expect too much.”
" We expect to see a lot of public art in our daily life in the environment of living, working, shopping, which should not become a boring daily routine. The reflection we have when we see these art works must have some reasons. " |
