At 14:30 on April 12, 2013, “Public Art and Social Development “Forum was held. Professor Fang Xiaofeng, chief editor of "ZHUANG SHI" magazine by the academy of Fine art of Tsinghua University, gave the speech of "Artistic Gesture: Explore the Way to Public". He said: "the way to public means that different groups of people have equal right to involve public affairs. By this understanding, the purpose of art, the meaning of art and the gesture of art should be adjusted accordingly for the general public. For the general public, the gesture is the most vulnerable perceived attitude and should be considered as part of the artist’s creation to fully discussion. What kind of gesture of art should be taken to involve in people’s life is the issue being gradually understand and explore.
"Modern art should be further to remove the trend of elite. If artist can get rid of the shadow of such privilege, art will get a more thorough respect. On the one hand, the interests will attract and guide the participation; on the other hand, we want to stimulate discussion of public affairs or public topic. " |
